You may have heard, via mail outs, social media posts and whatnot that there were quality issues with the recording of this audio book.

It’s one of those conundrums, if you weren’t told, you probably wouldn’t even notice, particularly if you listen while riding, driving or mowing. However, I know and I feel I need to let you know because, when I proof listened to the files in a soundproof recording booth with high end headphones, despite being quite critical, after the first few chapters, even I get caught up in the story and don’t notice any of my Second World Problems, and I’m quite confident that you too are going to come away thinking,

‘What was he worried about, sounded fine to me’

Regardless, I’m reluctant to submit this to the audio book platforms, and decided to make the version available here for less than the price of an Audible credit … and also less than a pint and this will last significantly longer.

Travel, motorcycles, love & laughter, it’s pure escapism.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Graham is probably one of the foremost travel writers on adventure travel, never mind motorcycle adventure travel. His style of writing has developed over each book into a beautifully crafted process, which takes you through the ups and downs of his life with such ease and pleasure that finishing each book has been a really hard come down. I dive straight into the next but this has been quite the wait.

This latest book, Second World Problems, is such an enjoyable read that I finished it and immediately started to listen to it again in my car, using the audio version. Funny, fascinating and fragile, Graham is a huge character with a deliciously anarchic view on life whilst at the same time trying to fit in to a new community in a foreign land. The one thing I would say is buy this book, but at the same time this is Book 3 in the series, so I hugely recommend you buy ‘Near Varna’ and ‘Not Working’ and read them first. I promise you won’t be disappointed and then you get the story from the beginning. If you’re really sensible, then you’d buy ‘In Search of Greener Grass’ which is his first book and it sets the scene for everything that follows. Trust me, if you read one of his books it’ll hook you and you’ll want more so get the lot and start at the beginning is my #1 top tip! For the record I don’t know the guy and I’ve never met him but I read a review about his first book and bought it based on that, so thank you to that reviewer, I’m forever in your debt!

The travellers’ read.

Anyone who can crochet language together to make a stay in hospital, or a collapsing wall entertaining is worth a read for that alone. A perspective so different to most others is almost unique. Whether you travel or not, ride a bike or not, you will be entertained and amused. A great read.
