deal or no deal

Forty-five minutes of fame, (although that was a by-product) and the money was a bonus. I accidentally got obsessed with the game over a winter of too little work and too much spare time. I got fed up with lying awake, considering what combinations and offers I would deal on and what would be worth a gamble. There was only one remedy, I just had to go on the show myself, to get it out of my system.

I stopped dreaming about it and went for the real deal and now, thankfully, I can turn my churning, insomniac mind to other thoughts.

I gracefully faded back into anonymity, took the window tint off the van and once more became just a member of the public; a little wiser, a little richer and with no desire to ever do such a thing again.
